Represent Your Club in BBL-Style Cricket
The NSW Community Cup is a T20 competition with BBL rules that runs alongside the regular season. It's a round robin format in which North Sydney would play four games against other club sides. Games are scheduled based on player availability. If we qualify, the finals are a carnival format, played over two days during the Easter school holidays.
Being unavailable for the finals doesn't stop you playing during the season. Plenty of girls will only be around for some of the round robin games, and that's fine, we just need to know so we can plan around it.
It's also a chance to play alongside girls from other North Sydney teams. The squad brings together players from Stage 1, 2 and 3, so it's a good opportunity to make new friends across the club, not just play with your own team.
We're also hoping to arrange one match as a day/night T20 under lights again, if scheduling and grounds allow, and to organise North Sydney tournament shirts for the players to keep. No promises on either yet, but last year's night game was a highlight.
Last season the cost was roughly $100 per player. This season's cost is still to be confirmed, and we will let interested families know before anything is locked in.
The Rules
It's played under Stage 2 rules, out-is-out cricket, with a few extras borrowed from the Big Bash:
- Power Surge and Power Plays: certain overs with fielding restrictions, the same as the BBL.
- Free hits: a no-ball means a free hit next delivery.
- Light-up stumps: LED bails and stumps that light up the moment the wicket is broken.
- Batters retire at 50.
